Merry Christmas Everyone!

A huge thank you to every one of you who have hosted my travels! I love my expeditions and have met so many wonderful people and shared so many special occasions, thank you all. I hope you all had a very Happy Christmas and wish you the very best for 2012.

I had a lovely time, fully kitted out in my Mother Christmas outfit. My outfit was Haute Couture none the less (designed and made by my Auntie Susie) who took me on her travels to Washington earlier in the year.

We went to the Space Museum. On the way in, I met an old man, who wanted to tell me about his relatives.

Never mind, I met a most charming pilot when we got to the early aeroplanes.

And I rubbed my little paw on a piece of the moon! How cool!

Well, it was a long flight, and it was quite late by the time we got to our hotel, so we had room service bring us some light refreshments, and we went straight to bed.

A bit of last minute shopping today, and we stopped off to see some friends. Big Bear was especially sweet, but Molly Spaniel just hogged the limelight. Grrrr

Wedding Bells

I have had a very exciting couple of weeks and Karen and Jon have been very very busy so I haven't had much time to get on the computer to update my blog.

I arrived in Carmarthen in South West Wales just in time to help Karen with the last minute preparations on the run up to their wedding on the 27th August. It was a very exciting time. One of my first jobs was helping to make the favours

I made two new friends, Poodle and Ted who live with Karen and Jon

We went on a walk around the local area and I saw this huge monument

I couldn't pronounce some of the words on the signs though

I had a sneaky peek at the rings before the wedding rehearsal on the Friday night when I gave them to the best man

We went to the church for the rehearsal and there were more words I didn't understand on those signs too

I made another new friend at the church, he is called Cosmo the Christ Church Cat and Canon Patrick has written books about the mischief he gets up to in the Church.

Then it was Saturday morning and the day of the wedding. Karen was in such a rush she forgot to take me to the hair dresser with her so whilst she was out I tried on her veil for size but it was a bit big

I even had a really really good look at her dress

I had some very important jobs to do during the wedding. I helped Karen carry her flowers and looked after them during the ceremony for her

She had some very famous wedding guests in the chuch

I had the best view ever for the cutting of the wedding cake at the drinks reception after the service

And the best seat in the house for the reception too!!!

It was a very busy and tiring day so Karen let her children take me home early to bed whilst they stayed up very very late celebrating

The children (and some adults) made some fantastic models with the plasticine Karen had put on the tables at the wedding

And on my last day in Carmarthen we went out for a farewell meal.

All in all I had a very busy and exciting time in South West Wales. I think I need a bit of time to recover from all the excitement now.

Who knows where I'll end up next?

I’ve come to stay with Emma and Alan again. I remember staying with them before and we went on a big ship – I hope we’re going on one again.

Yippee! Here I am in Ocean Terminal in Southampton, waiting to get on the ship. Can’t wait!!

The beds here are just as comfy as I remember – aaaaahhh.

We’ve been sailing for quite a while and have landed in Norway. It’s a very pretty place indeed. Here I am by the fountain in Stavanger.

Today we’re in a little place called Eidfjord. It’s lovely here with lots of big mountains and a fast river.
You do take your life in your hands here though. First I nearly got eaten by a cat, then I had a tussle with an eagle!

At least the walruses are friendly.

Phew, that was exhausting – so many stairs! It was worth it for this great view of Bergen though. It’s a lovely place and the fish market is very exciting.

I’ve really enjoyed my time in Norway and have even made some new friends.

We’re heading south to France now – I’m not sure if I’ve been there before but I’ve been studying some of the language to prepare myself. Au revoir for now!

Well how very rude! Emma and Alan went off the ship to a lovely place called Honfleur the other day and forgot to take me with them. Humph! They came back with cakes, calvados liqueur and biscuits and everything. You can go off people, you know.
Luckily they remembered to take me to La Rochelle with them today. Here I am at the entrance to the harbour.

It’s warm today so I decided to indulge in a spot of topless sunbathing in the privacy of the balcony.

It’s a special day today – Alan’s birthday – so we all went down to the coffee shop for a coffee and a cake to celebrate. Nom!
We’re in Spain now so after the cake we got on a coach to Bilbao. It was a very big place and a bit scary for a small bear but we didn’t get lost.

Phew, what a scorcher! Wall to wall sunshine today in La Coruna. Here I am on the beach. It was a very strange beach because it’s made of granite so it’s quite tough on your paws.

Today is a very special day indeed as it is Emma’s 40th birthday – and she doesn’t look a day over 39. I didn’t see much of her during the day because Alan paid for her to have some spa treatments. She seemed very smiley when she got back. At night we went to the posh restaurant on the ship and sat outside overlooking the back of the ship it was lovely.
Ooh what shall I have – it all sounds delicious.

Today, we went out for a "posh" afternoon tea to celebrate with some friends of my host. As it was posh we dressed up :)

We went in a Limo - this one was all pink inside, and was apparently a "stretch Hummer"

Here I am with some of the food, there were sandwiches too, but i prefered the top layers lol

I went out tonight, my current host had been invited to a "leaving do" for a friend who is leaving the area and returning "home". As it was St Patricks Day we had to wear green. Here's me at my place wearing the dress made for me.We had Poppadoms for Starters. They were yum....

It was a buffet style curry place, ie help yourself to what you want. This is what I had

Very nice it was too.

Also, had a drink (well I wasnt driving)

Next, well that was a new experience for me. We played a game, they called it the "malteaser game". You had to "pick up" the malteser using only a straw, and pass it onto the next person same way. It was amusing, here's my go

Unfortunatly, the only person who actually managed to "pick up" the malteser was this lady

The game soon degenerated into "blow football" where each side of the table were blowing maltesers with the straws and seeing if they could get it off the other side lol.

We ended with desert

tooo many to choose from!

It was a really enjoyable night.

Today we got up, and went to "church". Its a lovely friendly place, and different to a lot of other churches i've heard about, its very informal. It was http://www.lighthousechurchhawkinge.co.uk/ here.

I met the vicar, very nice chap he is too.

They let me play the piano.

I was also allowed to help with the laptop, they use this to put the words onto the big screen so that the lovely people know what to sing.

Today we went shopping - they let me drive

Where I've been I wasn't able to update my blog everyday so I'll have to let you all know what I've been up to all in one go :-)

Phew what a busy bear I have been! I arrived to stay with Emma and Alan and they seemed to be doing an awful lot of rushing about and putting clothes in cases. Then I got excited when I realised I was going on holiday with them. I was a bit curious when they said they hoped I had good sea legs.

We went for a long journey in the car and arrived in Southampton, which was very nice but a strange place to go on holiday. Emma said I should get a good night's sleep in the hotel as tomorrow would be very exciting.

Woke up quite early this morning and then came to a big building full of lots of people. I was given this cardand had to wait until the letter was called out. Then we walked down a long bendy tunnel and I found myself on an enormous ship.

The rooms here are called cabins and the beds are very comfy
the sun beds are lovely tooApparently we are going to the Canary Islands. I don't think I've been there before but it sounds nice.

Today we got off the ship for the first time in a place called Madeira. It was raining a lot but I stayed nice and dry in Emma's bag. We went to a place where wicker things are made and I found this reindeer, which I thought was very clever.

We're in La Palma today and the sun is shining. It is very pretty. Here I am singing along with the local band.All that singing was thirsty work so I had a delicious pineapple juice. Yum!23.10.10
Another new place today – Gran Canaria. Blimey it's hot! I had a lie on the beach at Maspalomas (with sun screen of course)

The ship is at sea today so I decided to have a rest – I need it after all the excitement of the past few days.

Today we sailed into Lisbon. It was touch and go getting under that bridge but we made it. We went on a trip to Cascais and Sintra, which were both very pretty. Here I am in Sintra

I was left on the ship today as Emma and Alan were going to a spa and didn't want me to get wet. They seemed very quiet and sleepy when they got back.

It is the last day of the cruise today so we had to pack everything away.
I am sad to be leaving the ship but I've had a lovely time.

Thank you for a smashing holiday, Emma and Alan. I've enjoyed my life on the ocean wave but now it's time for my next adventure...

Holiday Time!

I have been staying with Ali and Graeme with Lucy, Meg and Murphy. We've been off to the Yorkshire Dales! It was a bit chilly so I had to wrap up warm. I was told that it was colder than normal - we even had a couple of snow showers on our walks.

When we arrived at the cottage I made friends with the bear who lives in the garden. he props the door open... and was just a bit handsome!

I helped plan the walks. I would spread out the Ordnance Survey maps, consult the weather forecast, check my compass and plan our route. We only got lost once.

Sometimes we walked high up on the moors and sometimes by rivers. We saw lots of birds, many were nesting so I was very lucky that none of them tried to pull out my fur for nest material! There was lots of ducklings on the rivers, very cute - but not as cute as me of course!

We did a stretch of the Pennine Way and also wandered along the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

My little legs are very tired from all that walking. We are home again now and I have been helping in the garden this weekend. I need to get my washing done as I'll soon be thinking of packing my bags to head off on my next adventure!

Hello fellow Gappers,

just thought i'd update you all on what i've been up to for the last couple of weeks and phew what a couple of weeks its been!! I went to stay with George and her OH Subbo and looks like i got there in the nick of time! It seems that they had a little baby on the way and needless to say i was glad to offer my services. Here are a few piccies of the happy event, once i'd finished with the towels and boiling water.

For the first half of December I went to stay with Kay and Tony and their dogs, Cleo, Flint and Ali.

Tony and Kay didn't have spare holiday to take for me, so I joined in their daily life. Here I am helping Kay deal with her emails at work:

All in all a very busy week! Kay said she slept much better knowing that I was guarding the nation that night. I was pleased to help, but very glad to be moving on to my next family for a lovely Christmas break!

Scarletts capers in Cornwall !

I have been having a wonderful time on holiday at The Lizard in Cornwall, with my new host family - Mark, Louise and Jessica. Josh, their greyhound stayed at home, but I did get to say hi before we set off. I didn't see any lizards but I did see an awful lot of fog, and a lot of sea !! Here I am enjoying the fire, and the halloween pumpkin that Jess and I carved (well I watched !)- I was very toasty by the fire, but had to move after a while as I didn't want to singe my fur!

Jessica took me to see some seals at the Gweek Seal Sanctuary - they are very good at swimming underwater, and I think this one took a particular fancy to me !!

One of the days we walked ( I rode in the rucksack !) down to Kennack Sands, and met these shetland ponies - the sign said they were wild, but they seemed very eager to say hello and to eat Louise's coat !! I kept well out of the way, and then posed for my photo from a distance !!

Doesn't this man look funny!! He was in the Falmouth Marine Museum and looked like he needed a cuddle from a teddy like me !!

Louise is going to put me back in my box now, as I'm off on my travels again and don't want to be caught up in any postal strikes !! x x x

Dumpledale and Flyball!!

I am sorry I have take so long to update my blog!

At the beginning on July I went to stay with Sarah, Rob and their little girl Iona. I arrived just in time to join them on their holiday to Pembrokeshire - more specifically Little Dumpledale Farm. We had a lovely time, although it was very wet, going on lots of walks on the beach and visiting local towns and attractions. I liked sitting in the window especially and watching the rain - much better than running around in it like those dogs!

We were all really tired after our days on the beach and I even got to be in charge of the dogs each evening, although sometimes I caved in and had a little nap with my friend Indy!

After a very long trip back in the car on Friday night, we had to get up very very early to go to a flyball competition on Saturday morning! The competition was at the Chiltern's show in Buckinghamshire and there was so much to see and do! I watched racing of all the divisions but thought the races in division 1 were fantastic! We also saw helicopers and ate lots of ice cream! It was such long day that I had a bit of a nap with Iona in her buggy :)

I really enjoyed my trip and am looking forward to my next adventure!!

Hi to all my fans!

I've landed in a little village near Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland to spend my jollyhollybags with Murphy, Fi and family. The weather has been pretty good so far with some lovely summery days and just a little rain to keep the weeds healthy.

The little girl, Leah, just thinks I'm fab but she had to go away this weekend to cub camp - I told her it would be perfect for me to go too, having been a cub personally, but apparently cub camp is a dodgy place to be for pretty little girly bears!

Never mind, I will stay home with Murphy and Fi and just enjoy the peace and quiet.

I just heard Fi say that there's a news story on the net about a shop in Lanark that is selling Buckfast Cheesecake. Might see if there's any coming my way. Maybe.

The Daddy will be home soon and will help the stoopid mummy to upload photo's.

I thought I would share some pics of my stay in Essex with Nickiy and family.I spent a couple of days settling in and then Nickiy said I was going to become an honorary member of the Royal British Legion Band Romford so I joined her son Eden who plays the cornet and boarded the coach to London.We took part in the St Georges day parade in the City of London marching through the streets of London from West Smithsfield to the Guild Hall.

after a very exciting day we dropped Edens friend Sam (who plays cymbals) home and met some new friends. Sams Mum fosters for Many Tears but these are her own dogs saying hello to me.

The weather was lovely this weekend so I spent some time in the garden ,I played on the slide

and helped Shamen with the gardening

on my final day I went to school with Romany

and then was I was safely packed into my traveling case for my journey onward to my next adventure,Sprinkles a Many Tears pup has been staying with Nickiy and her family too while she awaits her forever home,she said Good bye to me and said that although she loves it here she too hopes to be moving on soon when she finds her forever home.

Sunny Sussex - Part Two (Winnie-The-Pooh)

As I was staying close to Ashdown Forest we had to see if we could find Pooh!

Ashdown Forest is famous as the setting for the "Winnie the Pooh" stories which were written by A. A. Milne for his son Christopher Robin. There are lots if places that are in the stories that can be found on the Forest. Places such as Poohsticks Bridge, Galleon's Lap, Roo's Sandy pit, the North Pole, the Hundred Acre Wood, Heffalump Trap and The Dark and Mysterious Forest.

Ashdown Forest is big and for a Forest it doesn't have as many trees as I'd expected. Two thirds of it is heathland, so why is it called a Forest? Beats me! My hostess told me it's 6500 acres, which sounds an awful lot to a little bear like me. I was a bit worried that she'd expect me to cover all of these acres (whatever they are) on my little legs in our search for Pooh.

Although I didn't actually see Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore or Christopher Robin but I did see some of the places they play.

This tree is the Lone Pine. I didn't want to go to close because underneath it lies a "Heffalump Trap". Pooh and Piglet planned to capture a Heffalump in this hole and I was a bit frighted there might be one there. I don't actually know what a Heffalump is but I was in no hurry to find out.

It was disappointing not to meet Pooh or his friends. Maybe next time.

Sunny Sussex - Part One

I’ve been spending some time in Sussex close to a place called Ashdown Forest. Apparently Ashdown Forest is the home of another special bear called Winnie-the-Pooh. We went looking for him, but more about that later.

The weather was lovely so I got to spend time in the garden digging holes and planting things. I think I might have caught the sun a little bit it was that sunny!

Unfortunately my hostess was rather poorly for a few days so I was called upon to perform nursely duties. It mainly involved passing the tissues and being sympathetic. At one point I though I was going to disappear underneath tissues, tablets and potions! It took my hostess a little while to get back on her feet but when she was feeling better we all went to visit friends.

I met lots of other dogs but I wasn’t allowed to get too close as they are known to be Shredders-of-Bears! Fancy taking me to a place like that! Outrageous!

While there I learnt to fly a plane, well, not a real plane but by using something called a Flight Simulator. It was fun! I took off with a little bit of help and then cruised along the South Coast before attempting a landing. I think my landing needs more practise. Ooops.

When everyone went out for walks my hostess, Murphy and me had our own little outing. Murphy has been poorly and can’t go for long walks like the others. We had a little walk along the Thames and watched some birds. I saw a Kingfisher!! It was very blue and very fast. We then sat in the sunshine and waited for the others to come back. Murphy makes a good cushion; luckily he’s not one of those that do Bear-Shredding.

On Monday evening I attended Dog Training classes. My hostess is an assistant trainer so I went along to see what’s involved. It all looked like hard work to me! The puppies were funny and did stuff that even a bear like me can do, but then the next 2 classes looked a bit complicated. I did attempt a Send Away but got distracted by some biscuit that had been dropped on the floor. A lovely curly dog called Liberty helped me out. Liberty is very pretty, she is an Irish Water Spaniel and it a yummy chocolate colour. Her fur was very soft; I nearly fell asleep on her!

Ready for Departure

I've been taking a short break from my travels for the last couple of weeks while my secretary prepares my itinerary for the year! I have lots of exciting destinations to visit over the coming months and I am getting very excited.

I've had my paws up, taking time out to watch TV and catch up with the soaps. Now I am raring to go again.

I am due to set off tomorrow to visit Hazel who has all sorts of activities lined up for me. I'm going to Crufts (eeek... I hope all those dogs won't think I'm a squeaky toy) and then I'm off to the Isle of Wight. I am very much looking forward to being a travelling bear again.

Today I have done all my washing. It was a lovely sunny day so it was all hung out to dry on the washing line. I'm not quite sure how I'll fit it all in my case but I'm sure it'll all squish in.

The Story So Far

Scarlett Bear - Greyhound Gap's Official Fundraising Bear

Scarlett has been travelling the world since October 2007 to raise funds and awareness of Greyhound Gap in memory of Elaine Parkes.

Elaine sadly lost her battle against cancer at just 47 years old. Lainy had adopted both of her of her dogs from Greyhound Gap; the charity and the hounds themselves were extremely close to her heart. A very special young lady called Lucy (daughter of Elaines' best friend Heidi) wanted to do something to help raise funds in Lainy's memory so the idea of Gap's Travelling Fundraising Bear was born.

The day after we sadly lost Elaine a little 6 week old puppy crossed the path of the Greyhound Gap. Her medical needs were so great that her costs within 6 days mounted to a huge £2000. Her medical care is ongoing and will be for the rest of her life. The puppy was named Scarlett. In memory of Lainy, and also to help other special needs emergency dogs, the Elaine Parkes Memorial Fund was created so that other dogs like Scarlett can receive the necessary treatment without taking away from the other dogs needing the help that Greyhound Gap provide. It seemed fitting that Gap's Travelling Bear would also be named Scarlett.

Heidi and Lucy have been organising Scarlett's travel ever since but sadly Lucy has become poorly. Heidi has more than enough to cope with right now, so I have offered to take over Scarletts travel plans and act as her secretary. A massive thank you to Heidi and Lucy for doing everything they have done and for helping Greyhound Gap. Sending you both much love and get better soon thoughts to Lucy.

Scarlett Bear normally visits her host families for 1 or 2 weeks at a time in return for a small donation being made to Greyhound Gap which so far has usually been around £5 although for very special occasions this has sometimes been more, I have a recollection of Scarlett being caught in the middle of a bidding war!!

When Scarlett comes to stay it's nice to keep a record of her travels in this Blog (she's a very high-tech bear!) so that everyone can follow her adventures. Details of the blog will be passed on to her host family when she is on her way.

If you would like to have Scarlett come to stay with you and help raise funds for Gap, please email me (ali_ajp@yahoo.co.uk). Let me know how long you would like her to stay for and whether you have any preferred visit dates. Scarlett has quite a full diary until the end of the summer so please be aware that some flexibilty might be needed! I'll then confirm her travel arrangements with you and pass on payment details so that you can make your donation to Gap.

To make sure that Scarlett can continue her travels it is very important that she is sent on to her new destination in plenty of time. Therefore we ask that you do pass Scarlett on by the required date to avoid disappointing those waiting to entertain her. Please be aware you will need to cover her travel costs (postage!). All details, addresses, dates and blog details will be sent to you at the beginning of her visit. Scarlett Bear is staying with me before resuming her travels in March when she has a visit to Crufts to look forward to! She currently has her paws up in front of the TV and is munching on some toffee popcorn!

Hi everyone i'm here again in Bolton ,the first place i went was to give blood i wasn't frightened at all & i got a drink & a couple of biscuits afterwards

This time i went to watch a video being made with BBP & Burnproof ..BBP has been on Clubland TV & the Blackout Crew Zak he's one of them who's holding me

Not a visit i was looking forward too but us bears have to have our teeth checked as well ,so here i am with the dentist Kate Duncalf & her very nice assistant ,i think theyr'e both great & made me feel at ease ..thank-you both

I went & visited a couple of oldies Teddy & Frisky they live in Flossy's attic so they don't come to any harm & they help her when she's on her computer ,we became very good friends .

Well it was to be my last day here so i had a party just a few of Flossy's Teddy's came she has about 100 of them & they live all over her house so no room for them all ..i never got bored there

& i always had loads of company ,can you see the one in the middle with me he's called Arthur he's been my boyfriend while iv'e been here .xxx that's for him .

Christmas in Dronfield

Scarlett Bear travelled to Dronfield Nr Sheffield to spend Christmas and New Year with us all here.
She had a lovely time. She enjoyed meeting all the family and also my horse who she went to visit. Flag is the grey horse and Riga is Flag's best friend. They are both old and retired but still get very dirty in the field. Scarlett was disgusted with them when they came in very dirty.
She did enjoy the company of Matthew my youngest son who helped her with her christmas dinner. Scarlett also played a mean game of pool with the boys too. It was a pleasure having her stay here and hope to meet her again someday.

My Cornwall Holiday, Part Two by Scarlett Bear

Here is the 2nd week diary of my stay with Ali, Graeme, Lucy, Meg and Murphy while on holiday in North Cornwall. See here for part one.

On Sunday, Ali’s Mum and Dad went home after a late breakfast. It felt a bit odd after they’d gone, but they’d only planned to stay a few days. The weather was still a bit damp and grey but we went off to Tregardock Beach in the afternoon to catch the low tide. It’s a steep climb down to the beach which is only accessible at low tide. A steep climb down inevitably means a steep climb back up! We drove home over the moors; the stream we’d paddled in last week was flooded after yesterdays downpours!! I think we all slept well that night.

Monday saw us doing one of A&G’s favourite walks, I think it was my favourite too! We walked from Constantine Bay golf course to Haryln Bay, then around Trevose Head past the lighthouse then along the back of Bobbys Bay, across Constantine Bay and back to the start. Harlyn Bay is lovely, the tide was out and there was lots of lovely sand. The dogs ran about like mad things and I paddled in the waves, it was a lovely warm day (when the sun shone)! It poured ready hard on Tuesday morning so we all had a very lazy morning, lunchtime and early afternoon! The horrible rain started to clear so we headed off to the favourite beach of all at Daymer Bay. The tide was on it’s way out so there was so much sand I could hardly see the sea. At Rock we got on the ferry again over to Padstow for much fudge supplies and some crumpets. While there I did a spot of sightseeing across the estuary through a special telescope. As my legs were too short, Graeme had to give me a helping hand. There was lots to see. When we got home we had crumpets and jam. Yummy!

On Wednesday we went to a place called Rough Tor (pronounced Rowter). Rough Tor is one of the 2 highest peaks in Cornwall, the highest is called Brown Willy. Apparently a Tor is a big pile of big rocks! We parked at the National Trust car park and walked up the hill to a smaller pile of rocks to the left called Showery Tor we then walked (or at least I hitched in the rucksack as normal) across the ridge to Rough Tor. We scrambled about the rocks for a while and sit by the memorial while we had a picnic:

Rough Tor on which this memorial is placed has been given to the nation in memory of those who lost their lives while serving in the 43rd (Wessex) Division in the North-West European Campaign 1944/45.

Thursday was a lovely sunny day but a little bit nippy and windy on the cliffs! We walked around Rumps Point which is a funny shaped bit of coast line that is described as buttocks! We stopped for a photo call at Pentire Point before heading down towards Polzeath.

On our last day (sniff) we walked from Crackington Haven along the valley to a stiff climb up the hill. It’s much easier being in the rucksack than walking, I don’t think my little bear legs would have made it up the hill! The walk back along the coast path was great fun and a bit of a scramble in places. We saw 3 seals! It took me ages to spot them as they kept bobbing out of sight. Here I am on the coast path just before reaching Crackington Haven – this is were we stopped and watched the seals for a while.

And here is me with the Haven behind me. There were lots of surfers just getting ready to go into the sea here. We watched for a while, but I preferred the seals.

On our last evening in Cornwall Ali and Graeme gave me a badge to remember my holiday.

We had a final walk on the moor on Saturday morning before heading home. A&G seemed a but sad to be leaving. Although I’d had a lovely time I didn’t mind leaving because I am a travelling bear and travelling is what I do! When I got home I was soon to be off on my next journey!!

My Cornwall Holiday - Part One, by Scarlett Bear

I recently went to stay in Mid Sussex with 3 black dogs called Lucy, Meg and Murphy. I was safely delivered by a very smiley and friendly postie.

Lucky for me they were about to go on their holidays so no sooner than I arrived we were off again to sunny Cornwall the very next day. After a good nights rest, my little bag was packed and off we went. I sat in the front of the car all the way there and helped my human hosts (Ali and Graeme) with their route finding. I was very excited but managed to contain myself! We arrived at our destination, unloaded the car, then went for a walk and a leg stretch after the long drive before settling ourselves in properly. I had my pick of the bedrooms, but decided that the sock drawer (strangely) was the most comfy of places!
On Sunday it was very warm and sunny we walked across Bodmin Moor to a pub where Lucy, Meg and Murphy shared a bowl of water, Ali and Graeme had beer and I had an orange juice. I was very hot after all that walking. On the way back we took a little rest amongst the moorland ponies and had a paddle in the stream.

Monday was another fine and bright day. We headed off to Daymer Bay where we walked to Rock and then got the ferry over the water to Padstow. After shopping for fudge and a pasty we climbed the hill to the monument and looked out over the estuary. Murphy was feeling a bit sleepy so had a bit of a lie down.

It was a little damp the following day and a little cooler so I wore my jumper. We went to Cardinham Woods where we walked amongst the trees and missed the worst of the showers. Ali’s Mum and Dad arrived in the afternoon for a few days. They are nice and tickled my ears and shook my paw when we met.

On Wednesday we drove to Widemouth Bay, parking a little way up the hill. We headed in land towards the canal leading to Bude. Unfortunately the canal path was closed but there was an alternative route so we took that instead. For all of our walks I was carried as a passenger in the top of the rucksack. When I climbed into the rucksack today I got a bit muddled and ended upside down!!

At Bude we stopped for ice cream and I posed on a handy anchor. We walked along the coast path at the top of the cliffs back to Widemouth Bay. Ali somehow managed to slip in sheep do-do and got it all over her trousers, very stinky! The walk along the cliffs was a bit windy but I was firmly secured to the rucksack so kept nice and safe. You should have seen my fur when we got back, it was all sticking up!!

Thursday was a sunny chilly day. We went to a place called The Minions which is on the moors. Near to the Minions is a big pile of stones and rocks – at the top it’s called Cheesewring. Not sure why but never mind! It was a lovely day and we had lots of fun scrambling over the rocks. It was cold though so I wore my jumper and Ali made me a woolly hat from a sock from the dogs first aid kit. Personally I think it’s wasted on the dogs as it made a fine hat keeping my ears very toasty.

Friday saw us heading round the headland at Stepper Point, nr Padstow. We parked up at Lelizzick, walked around the headland then dropped down onto the beach at Hawkers Cove where Lucy Meg and Murphy had a blast on the sands. It was very blowy on the headland, our eyes were streaming (and my fur got very ruffled again)! We sheltered behind the daymark for a photo call.

It poured hard on Saturday, all day. We’d decided on a walk from Boscastle the previous evening and not to be defeated by poor weather we stuck to our plans. On arrival we discovered it was Food Festival weekend and were directed to a park and ride up on the hill. Luckily the little bus was happy to take hounds and bears so we headed back down the valley to start our walk. The beginning wasn’t too wet as we were fairly sheltered but as we climbed up and out of the dip it was very wet indeed. A group decision was made to miss out the cliff section of our walk and we headed onto the village centre. A small detour down tp harbour in the driving rain was well rewarded with sights of seals bobbing about in the surf. I’d not packed a rain mac so Ali fashioned me a waterproof coat from a sandwich bag tied on with string – it kept me perfectly dry! A must for every bears wardrobe.

So that was the first week on my Cornwall Holiday!

I arrived at Lyn's house in Essex and said hello to Leo the dog

I stayed with my friends Mickey and Minnie whilst I was there

On Monday I went and helped Lyn working at the pub

I met Salsa the pub dog there

I helped Lyn with Henry the Hoover

Tuesday night we went to a pub quiz. We won.

The next day I went with Lyn to the office. Here I am on the reception desk.

4th August and we went to Hertford to meet Trish. She came to stay all the way from Leicester. Her we are with the bus driver. A very nice man.

On the Wednesday we went to another quiz. We won one part of it.

Trish and Lyn took me out shopping and bought me lots of new clothes. I am so excited. I like the kilt best.

7th August, Lyn's birthday, we went out for a meal with some of her friends. We met a very nice waitress called Emma

Then the big day arrived. It was Lyn's 60th birthday party. Trish and Lyn and bought me a special party dress. I think I look the bees knees.

At the party, I made friends with a little doggy. We spent all the evening together.

The next morning, Lyn, Trish, Alyson and I went to a big market. We tried not to spend lots of money.

On Sunday 10th August, we went to a super dooper Dog Show. It was very windy. We had a little tent to shelter in. It also kept us dry when there was a sudden shower.

Well, now it's time to say goodbye to Lyn and Leo. I am going to Leicester to stay with Trish, Tony, Asa and Callie the dog for a while. I don't know what adventures I will get up to there, but I'm sure I will have fun.

Fly fishing at Bovey Castle

This is the first time I've been fly fishing. It was good fun but really hard!

Bovey Castle was amazing - you can just see it in the background. We're going back to Southampton tomorrow so I will get to see Lucy again. I'm really missing her now!

I met lots more of Mrs Greenfield's friends today. This is Sophie. She's a teacher too and her children in Plymouth might start following my holidays soon!
I had a picture with Joe all dressed up! I even had my own veil to wear for the wedding.
This was the bride and groom - Ness and Dan. I think Dan was a bit worried about his speech!

We are now back in Locks Heath. I was going to go back to Lucy today but Anna has run out of time and we are going to Devon for the weekend. I'm quite enjoying myself so I hope Lucy doesn't mind. I think I'll phone her to check when my next holiday is! If I can go to Devon though I'll meet Anna's family including her dog Devon and we are going to a wedding. Update you all soon! I hope all those children from 4AG are having a good holiday and are keeping up with my travels!

Before we left we had a fancy dress party. I got given a bow! You should have seen the others - there was a ladybird, bumble bee, cleopatra, a clown, a prisoner and lots of others.
Here I am crossing the 'Pont de Normandie' - The bridge of Normandy crosses the River Seine. You could look for it on a map of France. It's quite near Le Harve.

This was my best day! Sarah took me on lots of rides!
I played on slides which were too small for most of the adults but not for me!
Molly and I rode on a camel.
Then we went on another ride. I was quite terrified when Molly got excited and started hanging me over the side. Luckily she didn't drop me!
Some rides I could even go on by myself!

We played board games like Articulate. We also had a table tennis competition, played volley ball, went on a midnight boar hunt and played hide and seek in the dark! You wouldn't have thought my carers were all older than 30! They did loads of things I like!
Molly let me use her chair at night when she was in bed.

On the first day we just relaxed in the pool and sunbathed! The aeroplane was my favourite toy!

I also liked the rubber ring! Our Gite is in St James on the border of Normandy and Brittany.

We went on a Ferry from Dover to Calais. I went in a car with Anna (Mrs Greenfield), Sarah, Julie and Imogen. They looked after me really well and we had fun.
It was a long drive down through France.
They even let me drive!

Lucy took me into her school today because my next holiday is with one of the teachers from her school. I met 4AG. They were very excited because it was the last day of term. They were all really nice. Lots of them wanted to take me on holiday with them but I'm going to France first!

I had a great time at 10 Downing Street along with Lucy's nanny. She is the lady next to Mr Brown, looking like she is blowing a kiss (she was actually trying to explain how to work the camera)

I am off to Belgium, Venice, France, London and many more places in the next couple of weeks.

Scarlett Bear meets the moorland wildlife

This is me, not really local wildlife. We planted this tree as part of reducing my carbon teddy footprint.

Every year the local Peak water buffalo herd go on a summer migration from their winter quarters on one side of the valley to the summer pastures on the other. This is only the tail end of the bunch, there is about 80 or 90 of the big beasties in the herd and they stop for nothing, certainly not a little bear so I stayed this side of the gates. Apparently the water buffalo are very good for the moorland as they do not eat all the small native plants like sheep do and they allow the beautiful meadows to flourish again.

This is a tawny owl baby, he was blown out of his nest in an old ash tree during some high winds. Fortunately, Helen's husband is a falconer so he was able to help and it was soon back up in the tree. Sadly we did not get a photo, but one of the parent owls actually brought a fish for the baby owl to eat, they brought mice for it to eat also which is more ususal.

This is Buffy barn owl, she is my favourite as she is more my size than the bigger birds of prey.

Scarlett Bear arrives in Derbyshire

I arrived back in Derbyshire for a break on the wild and wuthering moors adjacent Chatsworth. Helen picked me up from the arrivals lounge at the local post office and I was welcomed by JAG and Spyder, Helen's greyhounds.

Sadly I arrived just too late to help out at the Chatsworth Horse trials, but Helen said I could ride Mischief, one of her Shetland ponies. I found this very scary as they are all very naughty and I was glad to get off. Everytime Helen stepped back to take a better picture the ponies jumped and jinked, and I am not a rodeo bear.

I was executive bear for a week and went with Helen to work. Not sure quite what we did, or if she did anything [LOL], but it involved huge amounts of zooming up and down the motorway to various meetings at the foreign office and back.

This is me in action, fully mobile and operational agent Scarlett, with my memory stick, laptop and mobile.

Here are the pictures from my day out to the Dr Who Exhibition with Jasmine, Findley and Evie . We had a wonderful day and I was very brave as you can see!

We're here! It was a long drive but I am very excited to be here now. This is me with Jasmine and Findley at the entrance we can here the Tardis taking off somewhere...

I found K9 and had a ride Whooohoooo!!! We definately became friends!

Ahh the Face of Boe a very magnifcent fella and one of Evie's favourites (although he was very big compared to little old me).

This scary looking baddie is the Sycorax Leader and he was very scary so we didn't hang around here long and Jasmine and Findley stood well back.

Ahhhhhhhhhh a Slitheen got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I escaped this green monster and ran off quick those claws are HUGE! Theres a lot of scary baddies here!

This is more like it this is Casandra and although she talks a lot she can't really get me phew!

Look who I managed to sneak up on a Cyberman!! Shhhhhhh......he doesn't know I am here....

DALEKS!!! We ran quick before we were exterminated!!

What a fantastic day we had. We all ate strawberrys on the way home and had a lovely long sleep which I needed to get ready for my next holidy with Dawn yay!

On my final day with Dawn and her family she took me into work with her. She works with computers I think and took me into a room she called the server room. I had to sit here for a while whilst she got on with things. Then she showed me all the wires at the back where everything was plugged in - it all looked like a bit of a mess to me.
This was my favoutite bit though - there were so many wires here it was possible for a small bear to climb right across swinging on all the wires - great fun! Dawn said I was not meant to be doing that though so I had to stop.
After my fun at work it was time for me to travel on to my next destination.

One of the days I most enjoyed was going to a flyball session. Dawn said it would be very hard work for a small bear so we stopped at MacDonalds on the way and I had some chips. It was a bit naughty but it was very hard work so I think I deserved them.
First of all Lady showed me the flyball box and how it worked.

Then I loaded it up with a tennis ball and the dogs were able to start running. It was quite hard reaching down to put a new ball in the hole without falling down the front of the box.
Here are a few Bears eye view of flyball pictures - the dogs were running really fast. The dogs all knew what they were doing and all just fetched the tennis ball thankfully. They look a bit fierce in some of the pictures but were really just concentrating on getting the ball.

Well - I have been a busy bear since I last updated my travel diary. I arrived in Coventry and went for a walk round the City Centre. They have a special clock where a lady on a horse called Lady Godiva comes out and I had my picture taken in front of her.
We also went for a look round the Cathedral - there was a lovely big sculpture on the wall and I had my picture taken with this too. It was quite a cold, wet day that day so I put my rain coat on so I would not get wet. I think it rather suited me don't you think. On a slightly dryer day we went to a local market near an airfield and saw a big plane called a Vulcan bomber. I think I look nicer than a silly plane though!!
Once we got back home I was happy to meet up with a couple of pals for a bit of a gossip and chuckle.

I helped the family who were knitting some toy mice. I helped make some of them and I really liked this one. Dawn said its colour was similar to my name.

I also met Lady and had my photo taken with her...

.... and of course Gnasher - we were sharing a joke on this photo. He said he was quite happy to share his bed with me which was very nice.
